Allan Grice Special Guest on Shannons Legends of Motorsport

Two-time Bathurst features in next episode of hit new 7mate motorsport series.

SHANNONS Legends of Motorsport continues on 7mate this weekend with a special focus on two-time Bathurst 1000 winner Allan Grice.

A popular, competitive and combative driver through the golden years of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, Grice joins host Neil Crompton to take a drive down memory lane via the vast archive vision of Seven Sport.

A Bathurst 1000 winner in 1986 and then later in 1990 with the Holden Racing Team, Grice was deemed ‘The Enforcer’ of Australian touring car racing long before the arrival of Russell Ingall!

Grice’s career took him offshore in addition to his Australian racing programs, including becoming the first Aussie to qualify for the World 600 NASCAR race in Charlotte in the United States as well as an attack on the 1986 European Touring Car Championship in a locally built Commodore.

The Shannons Legends of Motorsport team has dug deep into the Seven archive to illustrate Grice’s career with a special feature on his trip to NASCAR in addition to his time in Toranas, Commodores, BMWs and even the powerful Chevrolet Monza Sports Sedan.

The 1982 Bathurst pole-sitter, Grice later became a Member of Parliament in the seat of Broadwater for 11 years – a career in the politics of motorsport preparing him perfectly for the role change!

Grice’s 1982 Bathurst pole-sitting car will act as a stunning backdrop in the popular multi-colour Roadways Racing livery it carried in its last race in the memorably Group C era in 1984.

Mark Oastler will take a look at the popular V8-powered VH SS Commodore, while co-host and researcher Aaron Noonan returns too with some more golden vision from the vault, much of it unseen in many years and unearthed from deep in the Seven Sport library.
