Uniting Eras: Heritage Touring Cars Celebrates Historic Motorsport Legacy at Phillip Island Classic 2025

Heritage Touring Cars is thrilled to announce an unprecedented gathering of historic Australian touring cars at the Phillip Island Classic, scheduled for 7–9 March 2025. With close to 50 meticulously preserved vehicles expected to compete in both race and sprint formats, this event promises to be a landmark celebration of Australia’s motorsport legacy.

This year’s event marks a significant expansion for Heritage Touring Cars. In collaboration with the 5L Touring Car Association, the organization is bringing together owners of 5L Touring Cars and retired V8 Supercars as well as traditional Group C and Group A entries. The inclusion of Motorsport Australia’s new historic racing categories for 5L Touring Cars (Group 3A) and 2L Supertourers (Group 3B) further underscores its commitment to embracing every era of Australian touring car racing.

“Phillip Island Classic 2025 is the ideal stage for both seasoned drivers and rising talent,” said Andrew Cook, 5L Touring Car Association Director. “Our Supersprint format not only hones drivers’ skills on world-class circuits like Phillip Island but also welcomes owners of retired Supercars which add immense value to the historic racing scene.”

Chris Stillwell, President of the Heritage Touring Cars Owners Association, remarked, “We are committed to celebrating Australia’s iconic touring car history. With a robust line-up featuring both race and sprint events, we’re uniting fans, competitors, and promoters in a shared passion for classic motorsport.”

As the event celebrates authentic race cars in period-correct livery and specification, Heritage Touring Cars invites enthusiasts to relive the golden eras of touring car racing and experience first hand the evolution of Australia’s motorsport tradition.
