We’re getting set to head to Victoria next weekend to contest round three of the 2026 Heritage Touring Cars series at the Winton Festival of Speed, July 25 & 26 at Winton Motor Raceway.
This year’s Festival of Speed will bring together more than 300 cars for a packed weekend of historic racing. Heritage Touring Cars will make a strong contribution, with over 20 of our historic Group C & A touring cars set to compete, including a special twilight race on Saturday evening. Alongside the motor sport will be a 500 strong display of club cars, a grand parade of Porsche cars on Sunday and their associated Fitzy Cup.

The Heritage Touring Cars grid is looking excellent, with just over 20 cars set to compete spread evenly across Group C and Group A. Amongst those we’re very happy to see Adrian Allisey set to return to the track after his unfortunate early exit from Phillip Island earlier in the year. Adrian and team have put a huge amount of work into returning the ex-Leeson/Willmington Walkinshaw VL to its former glory, and it’s looking beautifully prepared and competitive as always.

Jacob Khouri will orchestrate another welcome return to the track as the new custodian of the Yellow Pages Mazda RX7. The car was pedalled at Bathurst in the 1984 James Hardie 1000 by Tony Kavich and Phil Alexander, where it seemed to capture the hearts of punters around the country.
More recently it was in Carey McMahon’s hands, who treated it to an extensive two-year restoration and debuted it at the Phillip Island Classic last year. It has a strong history at Winton as well, holding a lap record set by Elliot Barbour in 2025.

Family team Hugh and Trent Harrison will also be joining us at Winton, with Trent getting behind the wheel of father Hugh’s Alfa Romeo GTV6. Hugh has owned this car for close to forty years making it one of, if not the longest custodianship in the series. It’s been a fixture throughout Trent’s life, from sitting in it dreaming as a kid to now pedalling it alongside his dad, who will be running another Alfa in Group S on the weekend.
The GTV was built by Luigi Racing, a legendary team founded by Luigi Cimarosti that prepared Group A Alfa Romeo GTV6 race and rally cars in the 1980s. It won the 1983 European Touring Car Division 2 Championship, and was then brought over for Alan Jones and Colin Bond to race in Group A here in Australia, leaving quite an impression on both the drivers and the public.
Hugh is only its fourth owner, and he has done a good job of adding to its accolades across its impressive forty year career. This includes two Victorian sports sedans championships in 1990 and ‘91 and a lap record in the Rob Roy Hill Climb, amongst other achievements.
He’s been running it in Group C & A events since the early 2000s and describes it as “a pretty standard car with a hot 260 horsepower engine”, adding that it’s a rare survivor and highly original, needing only some minor swaps like the plastic windows and fibreglass bumpers for its transition between sports sedan and Group A specification.

Trent is no stranger to motorsport either, getting his start at the young age of 13 pedalling go-karts and following in the footsteps of his motor racing idol Ayrton Senna. He was named CAMS Rising Star in the Australian Formula Ford Championship, also finding some success driving in the Bathurst 12 Hours including a KTM GT2 and some big Audis.
Joining the cars we’ve highlighted today, there’s no shortage of other icons set to take to the track, so come down, catch some of the action from the excellent viewing points around Winton, and take advantage of the excellent spectator access to the garages and paddock to say ‘Hi!’ and get up close to the cars.
