The 2019 Heritage Touring Cars calendar is locked in and we’re looking forward to unleashing the Legends of Bathurst once more with five rounds of iconic Australian touring car racing.
Crack open the diary and lock these dates in. We’re looking forward to joining you for a magic year in historic touring car racing.
2019 Heritage Touring Car Series
Round 1 – VHRR Phillip Island Classic at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, Victoria, March 8-10
Round 2 – Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour at Mount Panorama, New South Wales, April 19-21
Round 3 – Lakeside Classic at Lakeside Park, Queensland, July 20-21
Round 4 – ARDC Muscle Car Masters at Sydney Motorsport Park, New South Wales, August 31 to September 1
Round 5 – VHRR Historic Sandown, Sandown Raceway, Victoria, October 26 – 27
It’s been a spell since we’ve unwound the cars around Phillip Island’s iconic flowing bends, as last year’s series opener sent us to South Australia to give Australia’s newest motorsport facility, The Bend Motorsport Park, an important lesson in the country’s motorsport history. We’re looking forward to returning to Phillip Island over the 8th to the 10th of March to take part in the Phillip Island Classic and open our season with what’s sure to be a highlight of 2019’s historic racing calendar.
Speaking of highlights, it’ll be hard to top our second round of the season, which will see the Heritage Touring Cars paddock recapturing the golden age of the sport at Bathurst in support of the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6-Hour over the 19th & 21st of April. Mount Panorama and its place in Australian touring car history need no introduction and the opportunity to see historic Group C & A touring cars unleashed on The Mountain is not to be missed.
We’ll head north for the winter and take part in the Lakeside Classic in Queensland over the 20th & 21st of July. Lakeside is another classic circuit and has played host to countless great moments in Australian touring car history since the ‘60s. We enjoyed a magic meeting there in 2017, and we’re looking forward to heading back this year!
After a brief visit to the Queen’s Birthday long weekend in 2018, Muscle Car Masters returns to its traditional father’s day long weekend date in 2019. The event will be held at Sydney Motorsport Park over August 31st and September 1st and will host round four of our 2019 season. The meeting is Australia’s premiere celebration of classic muscle, and we’re proud to be a part of it.
After opening the season in Victoria, we will return to the state in late October for the fifth and final round of 2019. The VHRR’s Historic Sandown will be held at Sandown Raceway over the 26th & 27th of October and will once again host our season finale. Like Lakeside, Sandown has plenty of history hosting touring car racing, and with its challenging and exciting layout, the circuit always produces good racing.
As we near the end of the summer break we’re hard at work preparing these classic Australian Group C and Group A racing cars to get back on track doing what they do best. We’re looking forward to a safe, social, fun and exciting year of motorsport and as always we’re grateful for the opportunity to enjoy, preserve and share the cars with fellow fans of Australian motorsport.
We hope that you’ll join us at an event near you to get up close and personal with the Legends of Bathurst, chat with the people who drive and care for them and enjoy them out on the track doing what they do best.
